In Elden Ring, completing NPC questlines often requires gathering rare key items hidden across vast legacy dungeons. Among the most notorious tasks is acquiring the Seedbed Curse, a unique key item deeply tied to the Loathsome Dung Eater's storyline. Understanding where to find these curses and how to deliver them is essential for players seeking to unlock the Blessing of Despair ending.

Starting the Dung Eater Questline

To begin the quest, players must first encounter the red spectral form of the Dung Eater at Roundtable Hold after reaching the Altus Plateau. Showing him a single Seedbed Curse prompts him to hand over the Sewer-Gaol Key. This key unlocks his physical body trapped deep within the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds beneath Leyndell.

After freeing his true form and defeating him when he invades in the outer moat, he returns to Roundtable Hold. At this point, players must collect a total of five Seedbed Curses to complete his ritual. Delivering all five rewards players with the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

Finding Seedbed Curses in Leyndell Royal Capital

Leyndell houses two primary Seedbed Curses before the city transforms into the Ashen Capital. The first is located near the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace, past the guards and down an elevator. Climb the nearby ladder inside the large building to find a corpse strapped to a chair holding the curse.

The second curse is situated inside the Fortified Manor, which perfectly mirrors Roundtable Hold. Head to the room corresponding to where the Dung Eater usually sits to collect it from another defiled body. Make sure to retrieve both items before progressing past Crumbling Farum Azula.

Volcano Manor and Alternate Questline Curses

A fifth Seedbed Curse can be acquired inside Volcano Manor by navigating past the Temple of Eiglay. Beyond the portal leading to Rykard's arena, players can use a Stonesword Key to access a room filled with hanging cages. Descending carefully to the lowest level reveals the item sitting on a corpse.

Additionally, following Blackguard Big Boggart's questline allows players to receive another Seedbed Curse after he relocates to the outer moat. If Boggart dies during the Dung Eater's invasion, he drops the item alongside his equipment. This offers a helpful alternative if any missable curses in the capital were bypassed.

Locating the Haligtree Seedbed Curses

The final two curses are tucked away inside Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. Starting from the Prayer Room Site of Grace, players can drop down onto lower balconies and diagonal braces to reach hidden chambers. One curse rests on a high ledge guarded by soldiers, while the second is found in an unlit lower room.

Carefully planning your route through these late-game zones ensures you gather enough items to fulfill the quest requirements. Once all five curses are turned in, you secure the necessary mending rune for your chosen ending.
